OUR BELIEFS

Individually we may fail in our pursuit of Black Equity, ie. giving black people what they need, but collectively we have the power to overcome. Transparent, targeted funding for black communities is a means to improving black well-being and breaking out of oppression.

Redistributing wealth to black communities that create it is our best shot at inter-generational wealth. Giving black creators, artists, and entrepreneurs the resources they need to succeed will create greater economic equity for black people everywhere.

To us, this means a world in which black people:

• Are no longer harmed by 347 years of disenfranchisement.
• Are not denied capital because of who and where we're from.
• Have ownership of assets that cannot be systematically taken.
• Have a culture can capture and share its value with their community.

We are creating this world today by funding projects and people that uplift black communities. We do this by reinvesting much needed resources into black innovators and projects that are advancing community development.

HOW IT WORKS

Blequity is a decentralized autonomous organization aka DAO. Fancy way of saying it has no single owner, authority or controlling entity. It is, rather, collectively owned by the members and supporters of the black community. We are everyday people who pooled our funds together across the internet to bring about extraordinary, real-world change.

Each Blequity community member holds 1 $BLQ token which represents ownership and voting rights in Blequity. By holding this token, members are able to vote on which project proposals will receive Blequity funding.

To become a member and receive your $BLQ token you must apply and make a contribution. There is no minimum contribution amount to become a member and receive your token. All new members must be voted in by a majority vote from the existing members. All members are granted 1 vote per proposal.

All votes are publicly available.

• Proposals are submitted by members and creators.
• Proposals must include title, description, amount, and why.
• Voting options for proposals are simple: FUND or PASS.
• Proposals must receive a majority vote.

All proposals are entitled to a vote.
